BV Hub Monthly Meetings

Writer's picture: Joscelyn YoungJoscelyn Young

The Blackstone Valley HUB offers multiple monthly meetings for Internship Coordinators, Youth Works, and College & Career Readiness Counselors. During these meetings, we discuss important topics like:

  • Networking for potential internship placements

  • Troubleshooting conflicts that may arise within an internship program

  • Showcasing helpful apps / support for your program (with virtual presentations)

  • Exploring how AI may help with our jobs

  • Collaborating with best common practices ranging from grading, placement, capstone evaluations, and family / parent communication

The value of these monthly meetings are limitless - they provide a “go to” support system with a team of educators throughout the DVC who are in the same role as you! If you are struggling with a conflict within your role, chances are, one of us has had a similar problem and can brainstorm a resolution!

Beyond the scope of continually improving our jobs, we also aspire to bring value to our roles beyond the college & career readiness field. The greatest function of a school district is when students, families, and communities connect to support the student and the school itself. Internship Coordinators and Counselors serve as a direct link for the community to assist in the development and growth of our students.

Additionally, as the world changes, so doesn’t the function and need of an education system. With more and more schools adapting an internship component to their graduation requirements, educators beyond the role of coordinators & counselors should be invested in preparing their students for life beyond high school.

We strongly encourage and welcome educators to join our monthly meetings. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact Lauren Barrett at barrett.lauren@bvhub.org.
