“T” in STEAM

ree

As a STEAM teacher, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to highlight the “T” in STEAM for technology with my Grade 1–4 students - which is over 570 students!  During our time with the VR headsets,  I incorporated ClassVR into our STEAM lessons, assigning each grade level a playlist that introduced the standards and concepts we will explore in upcoming classes.

The virtual experience was highly engaging and gave students an exciting preview of topics such as sound, light, properties of matter, and electrical energy. Midway through the session, students were given some exploration time, during which they could experience activities such as swimming with sharks (a fan favorite), visiting a 2D pop-up fairground, or viewing fireworks from a drone’s perspective.

One of the most rewarding experiences for me was using ClassVR with our students with ASD. I created a sensory playlist that allowed them to explore calming environments featuring bubbles, soothing sounds, and gentle lights. I also included the fireworks and shark experiences, which many of them absolutely loved. The ability to tailor each playlist to meet the unique needs of the students in front of you is truly incredible.

This has been a one-of-a-kind learning experience, and students are already asking when we can do it again. Even those familiar with gaming VR systems were fully engaged and enthusiastic about using this educational tool.  Thank you BVHub for providing such an amazing opportunity.
