The 6th Annual Massachusetts Manufacturing Mash-up at Gillette Stadium was a hit with nearly 300 students from 11 school districts. For this large-scale event, the Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) brought together manufacturers, startups, students & industry leaders from across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for a day entitled, "Celebrating 250 Years: Manufacturing What Matters." Over 2000 attendees filled the G-P Atrium and adjacent hall at the esteemed stadium on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

Our BV Hub Team had the privilege of participating in this event for a 3rd year as supporters for the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative's MassMakes Innovation Challenge. The goal of the challenge was to give students an opportunity to explore manufacturing, apply creative problem-solving skills & engage with innovation in MA surrounded by an energizing team of educators.

Mentioned in an earlier blog, as part of this year's educational focus on bio-manufacturing, students were introduced to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). GMP encompasses the standards, procedures, and controls used to help ensure that products such as medicines, food, and medical devices are manufactured safely and consistently.

During the activity sessions students explored key GMP principles:

  • Accuracy: Measuring specific volumes and using equipment correctly.

  • Consistency: Repeating measurements and comparing results.

  • Verification: Using weight to independently check a measured volume.

  • Documentation: Recording actual measurements rather than expected results.

  • Following Procedures: Using specified equipment and techniques.

  • Quality Awareness: Recognizing when a result needs to be checked.

These practices reflect the importance of precision, reliable documentation, and quality control in real-world manufacturing.

Through our two interactive activities, students explored product development, testing, distribution and customer impact. Bonus points were awarded to students who participating in micropipetting, and brand ambassador challenges.

Lunch and cookies were provided while students heard a keynote address from Drew Crowe, founder of New American Manufacturing Renaissance, on “The Courage Gap,” sponsored by Tech ED. Crowe's impactful message encouraged students to invest in themselves. The entire audience zoned in during his speech.

Of the 11 districts in attendance, BV Hub was especially proud to host 4 of our Partnered Schools at the Mash-Up:

  • Bartlett High School

  • Nipmuc Regional High School

  • Sutton High School

  • Uxbridge High School
