YouthWorks Worksite Visit Highlights: Students Shine at Sneaker Sapphire

Our YouthWorks staff had the opportunity to visit Sneaker Sapphire, a local retail business, to observe Worcester Innovation Career Pathways Business & Marketing students as they gained hands-on experience in a real-world work environment.

The visit offered a firsthand look at how students are applying classroom knowledge to meaningful workplace responsibilities while building confidence and professional skills.

Sneaker Sapphire, owned and operated by local entrepreneur Jaden Marc, has become an engaging learning site for students interested in business, marketing, and entrepreneurship. During the visit, students were actively involved in the daily operations of the store, demonstrating strong engagement and professionalism throughout their shifts.

Students’ primary responsibilities include inventory management, customer service, and networking, all essential components of running a successful retail business. These tasks not only strengthen technical skills but also help students develop communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.

Jaden Marc shared high praise for the students’ performance and growth during their time at Sneaker Sapphire, stating:

“The students have been outstanding. They are gaining a strong understanding of how a retail store is managed and operated and I have seen clear growth in both their social and sales skills.”

This feedback highlights the value of work-based learning experiences in preparing young people for future careers. By working alongside a local business owner, students are able to observe leadership in action, learn about entrepreneurship firsthand, and build professional networks within their community.

The YouthWorks worksite visit underscored the impact of partnerships between local businesses and career pathway programs. Opportunities like this allow students to explore career interests, gain transferable skills, and build confidence in professional settings—setting them up for long-term success.

YouthWorks is proud to support experiences that connect students with meaningful employment and mentorship, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with Sneaker Sapphire and other local employers who are invested in the growth and success of the areas youth. For more information on the BV Hub YouthWorks program please visit our website, https://www.bvhub.org/youthworks or reach out to our staff, barrett.lauren@bvhub.org
